Thurs 9th - “Shine a Light”: The Rolling Stones documentary film, being given a special showing at CineWorld, Greyhound Park, Chester. Tue 14th - Thurs 16th – “Pure Gold?” CAFOD touring national exhibition on the social and environmental consequences of gold mining: With special reference to Honduras, Philippines and DRC. Exhibition being staged at Chester Catholic High School, Old Wrexham Rd Handbridge, in the brand new 6th Form Block - immediately prior to its coming into use. Open 5pm to 8pm on Tues & Wed, with talk at 7pm on Wed by Sarah Smith-Pearse, Cafod’s Communications Officer for Latin America. Thu 16th East Timor – who cares?: Fernanda Borges, a leading East Timorese politician is in Britain to remind us of the 24-year Indonesian occupation and the lasting damage this caused. Fri 24th - “From Power to Poverty”: 7.30pm Chester Cathedral. Talk by Duncan Green, Head of Research at Oxfam on the theme of his illuminating study of global poverty.
