10-16 May – Christian Aid Week: Virtual events
In, around and beyond CA Week, virtual or “hybrid” events include:
- ‘Mary taught her son a lesson that day’ Women’s voices in the Bible
This was held as a live event on Wednesday 12th May in St Mary’s-without-the-Walls, Handbridge, but still available to view on YouTube: www.youtube.com/channel/UCHvzYJ1wjdH8XXy_gtovCBQ
Trevor Dennis drew upon his young people’s Bible and his collections of stories and poems. Michael Reynolds, the organist and choirmaster at St Mary’s and another local musician provided some inspiring and uplifting music. Donations to Christian Aid.
- Song of the Prophets Join us on Wednesday 9 June 7-8pm to witness the debut performance of a new orchestral work Song of the Prophets: A Requiem for the Climate. There will be an address from Dr Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury, and a panel discussion with climate campaigners. Christian Aid has collaborated with Chineke! Orchestra – Europe’s first majority-BME orchestra – and St Paul’s Institute, on this new piece of music based on Christian Aid’s climate change work.
Here is the link for the Chester Christian Aid Group’s Just Giving page, set up because the usual collections during Christian Aid Week were curtailed again this year. Please circulate in case there are people who would like to make a donation:
